Enough Talking . . . Start Developing

Development on Glow Rogue Continuing After Mini-Jam 180 and Moving to a New Apartment

Glow Rogue is nearing completion, and there's a few things I've accomplished and a few things left to complete.

I spent the last month moving to a new city & house so this project has been on hold.  There are a few things that I added before I moved:

  • Game Juice - Enemy explosion effects, text effects, upgrade effects
  • Menu Screen & Shop Screen - Added Glow effects, pixel artwork, added advisor animation for her mouth so it moves when the messages show up on the screen.  Also added a message system to the menu screen.  This message system will be in the shop and during gameplay as well.
  • Testing out new enemy artwork & deciding if its worth changing all the enemies or not.

  • More sound effects
  • Beginning the process of creating the music for the game

Things left to accomplish:

  • Add the in-game currency, program the currency system, program the shop to deduct from the currency
  • Add the save-feature into the game to ensure players won't lose their permanent upgrades or cosmetic changes
  • Finish the pixel art for the spaceship cosmetic upgrades & the shop screen
  • Finish adding UI buttons to the menu & shop screens
  • Game over screen, add the health programming to the game to activate the game over screen, this is where the currency accumulates based on the in-game points players earned in the last round
  • Finish the music & sound effects
  • Decide if i want to continue with Firebase leaderboard or use an easier Gdevelop leaderboard system that's built into the engine
  • Finish re-creating the artwork for the enemies
  • Linking all of these scenes together with programming

I'm sure there's more I can't think of right now, but this gives you an idea of what remains. I guarantee this will be released.  My plan is to get Glow Rogue, Telly the TV, and Refresh-O-Matic released on the IOS app store simultaneously.  Thanks for reading & stay tuned.
